This trip was to celebrate our 50th Wedding Anniversary. We started out in Nice for 3 nights prior to our cruise and then traveled to Paris at the conclusion of the cruise for 6 nights.
August 28th We left home on Sunday and flew to Nice via a connection in London on British Air. After the hassle of having to go through immigration in LHR we decided in the future to limit ourselves to direct flights whenever possible.
Nice is not one of our favorites. We much prefer Paris and other parts of France. I think the waiters and hotel employees must agree with our feelings as they were not particularly friendly or helpful and appear to be in Nice solely for the jobs.
Having got that off my chest, we had a pleasant time and were near Monte Carlo, so getting to the ship was a short taxi ride.
September 1st Boarding the ship went smoothly. The Sojourn has provided us with the most pleasant of our Seabourn cruising experiences, and this short trip did not disappoint. Because we had been to most of the ports on this cruise many times (the exceptions being Sete and Genoa, which turned out to be our favorite port on the cruise) we ended up spending most of our time on the ship relaxing.
Disembarkation in Monte Carlo went smooth. Seabourn arranged for a car to take us to the Nice Train station for our trip to Paris. The train would have been a lot easier had we not been lugging along so much luggage. It is not our favorite way to travel. Took forever to get a taxi when we got to Paris, but the warm greeting we received when we arrived at the hotel quickly put all of that behind us.
The time in Paris flew by. We enjoyed walking about the city. When Eleanor decided to look through the stores, I would find a café to enjoy a coffee and read my Kindle. We have already booked our stay in Paris for next September.
