Saint Barthelemy - 2018

February 7 to 21, 2018
It had been nearly 5 years since we last stayed in St Barts in November 2013.
The Island experienced sever damage by Hurricane Irma in September 2017, so we were not sure what to
expect, but we did know that Raymond and his family and staff had repaired the damage at Les Ondines.  In
fact, the resort had been improved since our stay in 2013!

We flew from Miami to San Juan and stayed at the airport hotel overnight before continuing on to Saint
Barts via Tradewinds on February 7th.  Raphael met us at the airport and we stopped for a few groceries
before driving to Les Ondines.  It was like returning home as we were greeted by Meg and introduced to
the other staff members at the hotel.

With the exception of Les Ondines, everything else on Grand-cul-de Sac had been destroyed by the
hurricane.  Gustavia had pretty much returned to normal.  We did notice that the cars on the Island had
gotten larger, and there were many trucks and construction equipment on the roads which made getting
used to driving difficult, especially at night.

We ended up spending most of our time at the resort.  We did venture out several evenings for dinner, but
Eleanor prepared most of our meals at the hotel. Bird life on the island was greatly diminished by the storm.
